Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by Erik Schat Petersen and his family.


Majority of the fonds consists of architectural drawings created by Erik Schat Petersen of buildings he designed and/or created, as well as present day images of some of these buildings.


Fonds also contains photographs of Petersen family members, genealogical records concerning Erik Schat Petersen, and sketches by Petersen.


Antécédents administratifs ou notice biographique :

Erik Schat Petersen was a Danish immigrant who built homes, cottages, schools, a community center and church in various locales throughout Ontario. Petersen and his family originally settled in the Beaches area of Toronto, but moved to Peninsula Lake near Huntsville, Ontario, where he built his home in 1939.

Series C 11-1417: D.V. Klein's architectural drawings of unidentified buildings in Toronto, Ontario: D.V. Klein (1888-?) was a twentieth-century Danish-Canadian architect, active in Copenhagen, Chicago and Toronto.

C 26, Thorkild C. Hansen fonds: Hansen (1903- 1976) was a commercial design artist and architect who provided artistic and architectural planning for a number of buildings in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Series F 1405-11, Danish Canadian photographs: Series consists of photographs documenting the Danish Canadian community, primarily in Toronto, Hamilton and London, Ontario.

Series F 1405-76: Danish Canadian textual records: Series consists of textual records from a variety of individuals documenting the lives of Danish Canadians in Ontario and Europe.

F 4372, Salomon ("Sal") Chernia fonds. Chernia (1917-1988) was originally from Denmark but moved to Mississauga, Ontario in 1956. Sal taught people with disabilities in Ontario how to drive and modified cars in the 1960s and 1970s.
