Scope and Content: |
Fonds consists of the personal records of Daniel G. Hill, 1870-2003. Fonds includes Hill family correspondence, records relating to his involvement with various associations including: the University of Toronto School of Social Work, the Police Complaints Board, and the Ontario Black History Society. Fonds also contains personal files created by Hill while he was Ontario Ombudsmen, Ontario Human Rights Director and Commissioner, and Director of Daniel G. Hill and Associates. There are approximately 1100 photographs, ca. 1890-1993, in the fonds. Subjects represented include: Hill family members, Coakley family members, Edwards family members, the Ontario Black History Society, and Hill's various activities as a Director of OHC and Ombudsman. Fonds also includes 4 film reels of Hill family movies, 1948 - [196-?]. As well, the fonds contains 17 audio cassettes containing oral history interviews, conducted 1976-1983. Interviewees include: Donald Willard Moore, Harry Gairey, Keith Spicer, Charles Bush, Harold Butler, Edward Butler, Tom Hodgins, Josie Butler Sloman, Nick Nicklom, May E. Hill, and Daniel Hill. The Daniel G. Hill fonds has been divided into 11 series. |
