Scope and Content:

Files consist of oral history records documenting the life and career of George Gale (b. 1906), a lawyer who was appointed member of the High Court of Justice in 1946, Justice of the Court of Appeal in 1963, Chief Justice of the High Court in 1964, and Chief Justice of Ontario in 1967. Interview topics include: early legal experience; Appointment as Judge of the High Court; Labour Law; Gale's role as Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal; the Constitution. Interview conducted by Lawrence M. Olivo. File includes seven audio cassette recordings, a transcript with index (120 p.), and an autobiographic memorandum (87 p.).
