Scope and Content:

Volume contains transcribed copies of letters and reports sent by A.B. Hawke from the Kingston Emigrant Office between September 12, 1845 and May 18, 1849 and from the Toronto Office (to which he returned) from June 14, 1849 and August 27, 1850. Covers a variety of subjects including Hawke's work with hospitals and boards of health to co-ordinate medical services during the typhus epidemic which affected many Irish immigrants who came to Canada following the Great Potato Famine. Pre- printed forms for reporting statistics and summary information also appear in this volume.
