Scope and Content:

Volume contains transcribed copies of letters and reports of A.B. Hawke sent from the Toronto Emigrant Office as well as from the acting Chief Agent for Canada West, William McKay who replaced Hawke while the latter was posted in England 1859-1860. Covers a variety of subjects including Home Children, immigrants from the Foreign Legion, assistance to German immigrants, changes to immigration laws, etc.. Some letters and reports to the Bureau of Agriculture appear. Pre-printed forms for reporting statistics and summary information also appear in this volume.
